In not sure but their chocolate pie is divine!
They may use peanut oil for the fries.
Rule of thumb for any hospitality related business in NOLA. If the sun came up, it's open. Harry's Bar in the Quarter is open 24/365, unless Harry is dead.
Toast, potatoes, coffee. Not a lot, more vegetarian options
There wasn't when I was there
Riverbend I believe it was called
Yes. Very interesting restaurant with very good food cooked to order. If you're lucky the staff will perform for you. You might even see Drew Brees eating.
The one in the Quarter just closed a number of months ago. I found that out from the waiters at the original one on Carrollton about a month ago when I was there
The Camellia Grill accepts Cash, Amex, Discover, MasterCard and Visa.
The perfect little grill! Food was GREAT! Service was so much FUN!! First time, not last time! I will definitely visit again when I come for another visit.
A must go experience for any trip to NOLA. Ride the trolley out and eat excellent food in a unique and historic short-order style eatery. So glad we were encouraged to try it. I had the red brands and rice with catfish, and a small bowl of gumbo. Excellent!
Ok late night dinner spot. The servers were friendly. Diner with counter seating. The food is good, reasonably priced and came out quickly. My sandwich was ok, nothing special. My mom ordered an omelet and it was terrific. Their pies are phenomenal. It’s seems like most people were ordering breakfast. I would do the same if I returned.
This is one of my go-to places for a great NO breakfast. Every time I've come to Camelia Grill it has been great food and great service and possibly the best value in the ' Big Easy'. It's also nestled in a beautiful old neighborhood over by Tulane University.
Great food and excellent service located by one of the prettiest places in the city of New Orleans (Audubon Park)!! That's the hallmarks of this place! The streetcars pass right by and the levee is right there too. Definitely has "old New Orleans" flair. Is it a beautiful restaurant inside? Nope far from it but what it lacks in beauty it makes up for in food quality and service!! Highly recommend if you are a first time visitor to the city (I'm not I live here and still love it!)
Delicious! Small and intimate counter service with a side of New Orleans charm. The food was excellent. Red beans and rice were smoky and divine, as was a hot roast beef with swiss, grilled onions. So delicious and cheap!
Great for any meal! Open till midnight and beyond on some nights. This restaurant is a must when you're in NOLA.
Absolutely LOVE Camellias Grill! I have to make a Burger pit stop here EVERY time I come to NOLA....It's a Must and they Never Disappoint. My Fav is the Cheeseburger w/American and Swiss topped with Grilled Onions...🍔😋💞
Old timely diner... mostly counter space. True diner menu, breakfast anytime, burgers, fried stuff... not real expensive. I've seen people waiting outside to get in (It's not real big). Anyway, passable food.THE FOOD:I had a bacon burger, onion rings, and chili. Babycakes had a Reuben sandwich. The bacon burger was good, decent size, tasty... The onion rings were pretty good. Just frozen rings fried.. kind of like bar food onion rings. The chili had beans, kinda thick, not great... not sure if it's canned, it might be. The Reuben sandwich was also not great, the corned beef is grilled to death on a flat top, fatty...but not tasty fatty. Sauerkraut was also not great. The best thing to say is that it wasn't too expensive.Nice to experience an iconic New Orleans diner, though.
Every time we come to New Orleans we make sure to drive or ride out to the garden district to have breakfast and or dessert here!!The chocolate pecan pies served warmed up from the grill with butter & a la mode is divine!!They have other cream pies & malts or shakes too!! I love the breakfast here! I get the scrambled eggs with bacon & hash browns!
Got the Pecan Waffles and an Iced Tea. Really enjoyed both the food and the service. Our waiter was super nice and very helpful about both what to order and fun things to do in the city. What a fun place!
Absolutely Charming. Rare find. Talking to the locals and this place is a community staple. A low thrills sit your self diner tucked away on the street with a semi classical feel. The staff is hip but some still wear bow ties. They serve classic comfort food with NOLA love. Glad we tucked in while out on our walk about while exploring around a bit after checking into our airbnb. Great find.
A neat place to stop by and have an old diner experience. Staff were friendly and efficient and food was good, but it did not live up to the hype for me.Worth a visit anyway if you are in the area.
Really iconic, old school grill open late into the night. Guys are pretty good with the orders. Food was great. Drinks come with two refills. Pecan pie is delicious. I'm a big fan of their breakfasts and brunches.
One of the best breakfast places in New Orleans. We took a leisure ride on the St. Charles line from the French quarter to here. We enjoyed sightseeing all the landmarks and the Victorian/Antebellum houses along the way. The waiters here were awesome and provided great service. We ordered the chef’s special omelette and the waffles. All of it was great. But do come early if you want to avoid a line.
The portion that was cooked was good, the service was lacking and my burger was not cooked all the way through. The counters desperately needed cleaning or the very least wiped off, especially if your going to lay the forks on the counter. And I ordered a plain bacon cheese burger and they charged me an up charge for lettuce and tomatoes that I asked not to be on my burger.
Lovely breakfast. It was my first time to eat there since Marvin passed. I cried a little waiting for our seat. He was such a presence & his smiling face is still all over the walls. We got there a little after 11 & there were still a little grits left. So glad my friend from Taiwan could try real, good grits!
Camellia Grill is enchanting and delicious. Even on New Year's with a line out the door, service was of high quality and service fast and friendly. I personally had the vegetarian omelette with hashbrowns and wheat bread with a cup of coffee. Wonderful, no frills, rib-sticking food
The best waffles and pork link sausage I have EVER had. The liquid butter makes a great waffle, SUPERB. Love the old school feel of sitting at the counter and how our waiter called out our orders to the short order cook. It felt so nostalgic. Get their early, it's a big local/tourist spot.
This place was a great experience. Had the chef omelette with some gumbo and pecan pie and was all delicious. From the moment we sat to when we left we were engaged with the workers and our server -Brun- was outstanding. Def recommend it!
Small place but amazing food. Well worth a visit when visiting the area. They have Omelets with chili on it, how can you ever go wrong with that yumminess.
I havent been in this place in 20+ years. Back then I think it stayed open later and wed coome here after drinks. Things have changed. This is an old diner thats been around a long time. I dont remember the menu, but they serve diner food, Still true today. Glad to see they are 0
This is a must visit for any visiting guest of the city. The food is superb! Highly recommended by others, and I'll say I'm glad we listened. Just outside the Quarter, but quaint part of town. The best Omelettes I think my husband and I have ever had. Fluffy eggs, packed full of flavor. I had the Chef's Special, and it did not disappoint. It had everything but the kitchen sink basically. I was leary of the chili, but it complemented the dish perfectly. The staff is super friendly, and being in a small area, you enjoy the experience like family and good friends. If you're looking for the best breakfast in the city, look no more.
Friendly atmosphere. Service was excellent. Food was wonderful. Best grill I've eaten at in a very long time. They are on the trolley line. I suggest the Hickman burger with fries. My wife had the pecan waffle.
Head to the Camellia Grill every chance you get! I have been coming here since I was a kid and it hasn't changed (in a good way). Get the Harry's and a chocolate freeze.
Can't go wrong here. Drove there over the Charles Ave from downtown. Beautiful ride! Nice concept, sitting at bar only, always meeting nice people. Loved the omelet with Gamba's and the Grit. Get out of the center and try this in the morning
This was a GREAT place to eat on our first visit to NOLA! It was recommended in Frommer's and on Yelp! and it didn't disappoint. It's a small counter. I think I counted around 20 seats. There are some benches to sit on to wait for a seat. It was late enough that there were four spots for us when we arrived. The guys behind the counter were super friendly and the service was top-notch too. My wife and I got burgers and fries and the boys got breakfast. Well, if eggs and bacon/sausage with fries are breakfast. Lol. It's standard diner food but it's not your standard diner quality. The burger was juicy and full of flavor. The fries were plentiful and just the right golden crisp. There are many ways to make your burger unique, including the must of a fried egg on top. The shakes were also great. If you're in NOLA, this place is a must stop. We've been back a few times since and we always make sure to stop here to eat!! Great food and better service!
Great American style diner. The food is fantastic, the grits are spot on. Toast is just right. Coffee is good. The staff here are nice, with and old school flair.
The Chef's Special Omelette is to die for. Add their Chocolate Pecan Pie & you'll swear you visited gastro heaven!
Fun place to get breakfast. Food was good. Watching cooks make it even better. Expect a 15 minute line, as seating is limited. Large groups would best avoid. Our group was 4 and couldn't be seated together at same time.
We had red beans and rice and also a cup of gumbo. Both were delicious!
This place is amazing, good old fashioned New Orleans food. Try the plates with “chili on”, will give your breakfast a boost. Always friendly in here, and the prices are cheap for the food you get. Try their pies, of course they’re amazing as well.
This place has been here forever. It's a great spot to have breakfast. The waffles are the thin old-fashioned kind, and not the more currently fashionable Belgium thick waffles. All the servers are friendly and attentive. Seating is at a long counter that snakes through the restaurant. Perfectly situated to start a tour of the garden district after breakfast.
Brilliant service. Filling portion. Delicious breakfast all in all. Go early!
Great diner close to the zoo. I visited the place for the first time in 1992 and it still looks and feels the same. It seems time has stopped here altogether. The food is tasty as always and the waiters and cooking staff are courteous. Only bar-side seating, at peak times expect some wait time.A True Nola gem.
Truly an amazing experience. It's small but worth the wait! Great servers and food stop by everytime we are in town
A favorite when I was a student at Tulane, nice to be back after a few decades. The menu is basic but it's good food at great prices. Very hospitable staff, too!
Stopped here as a recommendation from family that lives here and an uber driver and was so happy that we listened! Food is the best! Husband got an omelette and I got a burger and a shake and it was amazing!!!! Service is incredible too! They were super sweet and quick!
This never fails to meet my expectations. Omelette's are the best. The service is top notch. Highly recommend this establishment. Don't forget to get a cream pie!
The best breakfast in New Orleans. Burgers look good too. Pecan pie was soooooo gooood!
I love having breakfast here! The food is good, they are generous with their portions and the price is great! The waiters in their white shirts and black bow ties are always extremely friendly. Not too many restaurants are open late but this one is open until 12am. There's always a wait for breakfast during the school year since it's near the college campuses but it's well worth the wait.
Great food & service with some friendly conversation!
Best breakfast hands down. Great atmosphere.Great staff.Even better food.Come hungry, leave happy!Thank you, Thank you! We will definitely come back
Nice quaint diner with wonderful staff. We stopped in for bacon cheeseburgers and cheese fries. Cool counter seating, no tables or booths. We'll definitely return to try the all day breakfast options.
This place is awesome. Great diner food and with great atmosphere. Its a small place but the food is served hot and fresh. Very comfortable vibe where you find a mix of local regulars and visitors. You will be hard pressed to find another gem like this.
Even under new ownership since the storm of 2005, it maintains much of its charm and inexpensive good grill food.
The food is good diner food. The place is small and cozy. Counter seating only. Be prepared to stand outside while you wait. It's a cool experience. The trolley ride up is nice. Take the 12 .
A fun place to grab homemade food. Counter seating in a small quaint and unique setting on the St Charles trolley route. The chocolate pecan pie with ice cream is a must!! Don't pass this yummy place up.
If you Love Pancakes with crispy edges and freshly prepared breakfast cuisine this is your place! Did I mention fancy cloth napkins and amazing service. The seating is bar top so you also make new friends while you eat! I LOVE THIS PLACE!
I'd have taken a picture before I finished my meal, but I'm certain that it's impossible to wait to devour your meal here. I had the Doc here for a late lunch and enjoyed everything about the experience. You eat right in front of the chefs who cook your meal, you talk to them, hear them joke with each other. The seating is very limited, and only bar style. It's a place that I dream about going back to every time I'm in NOLA. It has never let me down, always living up to the idillic expectations I have for it.
